His Majesty graces parliament‘s opening session

His Majesty graces parliament‘s opening session..His Majesty the King graced the opening session of the fourth session of the second parliament, today. His Majesty was accompanied by Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen.

Upon arrival at the courtyard, His Majesty and Her Majesty were received in traditional chipdrel ceremony. His Majesty and Her Majesty were received by the Prime Minister, National Assembly Speaker, Opposition Leader, National Council Chairperson, Cabinet Members and the Members of Parliament.
The opening session began with the administering of the Zhu Drel Phunsum Tshogpa.

The National Assembly Speaker, Jigme Zangpo, on behalf of the parliamentarians, thanked His Majesty for gracing the ceremony.


The Speaker also spoke about the bills and agendas for discussion in this session. The Office of Attorney General of Bhutan Bill 2014, the Companies Bill of Bhutan 2014, and Enterprise Registration Bill of Bhutan 2014 will be tabled for discussion.

The Entitlement and Service Conditions Bill for the holders, members and commissioners of the constitutional offices of Bhutan 2014, the Jabmi Bill of Bhutan will be deliberated for amendment.

During the joint sitting, the Local Government Amendment Bill, the National Assembly Amendment Bill and the National Council Amendment Bill will be discussed.

The report by the Public Accounts Committee on the Audit performance report will also be presented.

The Princesses, representatives of international organisations and other dignitaries were also present.

The session will end on December 9.
