Bhutan observes the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s 59th Birth Anniversary

HM60thBirthday-Nov11.The nation observed the 59th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, today. In the Capital, the Celebration was held at the Changlingmithang ground.

His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo was born on November 11, 1955 at the Dechencholing Palace in Thimphu.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, said His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo brought great reforms in the country. Lyonchhen also highlighted the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s selfless dedication to the nation.


Today’s event launches the year-long celebration.

As part of the celebration, students from schools in Thimphu performed various cultural programmes.

People BBS spoke to said, the day is an occasion to pray for the long life and good health of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Coinciding with His Majesty the Fouth Druk Gyalpo’s birthday, the day was also marked as Gross National Happiness Day.

The celebration ended with the Tashi Lebey.
