Paro Disctrict Court sentenced an Indian man to six months imprisonment for attempting to smuggle gold, yesterday. He was arrested in May, this year, by customs officials at Paro Airport.
The verdict states that 994.3 grams of gold were found from him. They were shaped as magnets and painted silver and hidden inside sound speakers. He had attempted to smuggle the gold into India from Bangkok.
The convicted can however pay in lieu of the remaining prison term.
