Weather forecast to get accurateThe Department of Hydro-Met Services’ weather forecast is all set to get more accurate. Instead of 24 hour reading of weather, it is now possible to do hourly reading.

The 10 Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), spread across the country, will record diverse atmospheric changes.

Accurate weather forecast will help the Department prepare people for harsh weather conditions, especially windstorms and thunderstorms.

With more data, from the various automatic weather stations, the weather prediction will be more precise, says the Senior Meteorologist of the Department of Hydro-Met Services, Tayba Buddha Tamang.

He added accurate weather prediction will help stakeholders of disaster management to be prepared.

At the seventh scientific seminar on results and review of SAARC storm field experiments, the Department of Hydro-Met Services also revealed that a GPS sonde will be installed at Paro International Airport with the help of civil aviation. The balloon-like equipment will be released twice a day for atmospheric reading.

The seventh scientific seminar on results and review of SAARC storm field experiments is attended by representatives from the SAARC countries.
