Bhutan Ecological Society’s second annual environmental fair and research symposium is being held in the capital. The conference will see feature talks by researchers from India and Bhutan on emerging environmental issues in the country.
The environmental fair is being held at the Clock tower square in Thimphu. Highlights of the fair are sensitisation posters on protected areas and eco-tourism opportunities in the country, best waste management practices and human-wildlife conflict in Bhutan.
Not only this, there will be discussion on conservation knowledge of the Bhutan Ecological Society to different governmental and non-governmental sectors.
The opening session of the three-day gathering was attended by the Agriculture and Forests Minister.
Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji stated that such a gathering will only help policy makers to become more aware of environmental issues and help come up with effective policy.
Bhutan Ecological Society was founded in 2010 by Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment in Bumthang.
The Royal Patron of the establishment is Her Royal Highness Princess Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck.
Of now, Bhutan Ecological Society has over 650 members from diverse professional and educational backgrounds.
