The hospital had to do away with the 15-year old machine after it was declared unsafe by the Bio-medical Engineering Department under the Ministry of Health.

Patients, in need of ultrasound had to travel all the way to Bajo in Wangdue Phodrang. “In the last six months, we had to send patients to Bajo in an ambulance which means an extra expenditure for the hospital,” said Dr. Choeda.

Last year, Pro-Bhutan Germany constructed hospital’s canteen which included a kitchen with modern facilities. They also renovated the main building of the hospital which cost them Nu.12 million.

And this year Pro-Bhutan Germany also donated two air conditioners, two refrigerators and a washing machine to the hospital.
