PM launches Google AppsThe Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, launched Google Apps today coinciding with the 24th birth anniversary of Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen.

One of the aims of going for Google apps is to become paperless. It is also expected to facilitate a secure email system and collaboration across the whole of the government, and to bring about significant improvements in service delivery.

The apps consist of features aimed at bringing innovative changes and convenience in the processes within the government.

To begin with, the service will be provided to 5,000 public servants, students, teachers and education officials.

Ricky Kapur, the Head of Google Enterprise Asia said Google is delighted to be part of Bhutan in its effort to digitise. “By moving to the cloud, Bhutan joins government and educational organisations around the world who have found a more efficient, collaborative and secure way of working and learning with Google tools.

“It’s incredible to observe Bhutan’s rapid evolution as it preserves ancient traditions while embracing technology as a way forward and we’re honored to be part of it,” he added.
