Religious institution initiates farm road construction

Farm Road-Construction-Ugyen Thegchog Yangtse Nunnery, Singye DradrokA 2.2 kilometre farm road is being constructed from Bemri to Totpulung of Shumar Gewog in Pema Gatshel. The construction was initiated by the Lam of Ugyen Thegchog Yangtse Nunnery, Singye Dradrok.

About Nu. 3 MN is being spent on the construction. Shumar Gewog has also contributed Nu. 5,00,000 from its Gewog Development Grant. The rest is being provided by Lam Singye Dradok.

The farm road construction was taken up privately after the proposal for budget in the first half of the 11th Five Year Plan failed to come through.

Apart from the nunnery, the farm road will benefit the villagers of Shumar Gewog. At present, they walk more than two hours to get to the nearest road head.
