Water supply restoration works-UdzorongThe much awaited water supply restoration works in Udzorong Gewog under Trashigang Dzongkhag is finally underway. The water supply was disrupted while carrying out Samdrup Jongkhar-Trashigang road widening works. The restoration work is expected to complete in about a few weeks from now.

Udzorong Gewog has been facing acute shortage of water for more than two years now. The Samdrup Jongkhar-Trashigang road widening works disrupted the gewog’s water supply from Namtala Drang, which led to the shortage.Water supply restoration works-Udzorong-

The restoration works began in February this year. It was supposed to be completed last month but got delayed due to lack of materials at the site.

“If we had all the materials that we required, we could have finished it within three weeks,” said Barkazor Tsongpa, Tshering Dorji. He said now that the materials have finally arrived, they would be completing the work in about a week’s time.

The restoration works are being carried out with funds from the Gewog Development Grant. The gewog will be spending Nu.5,00,000 to restore the water supply.

The water supply will benefit more than 250 households in the Gewog.
