Gelegphu Thromde suspends parking fees systemAfter incurring a huge loss, the Gelegphu Thromde has suspended parking fees system, which was initiated just three months ago. The Kahabab Construction, that had won the tender to implement the system, had failed to make timely installments.

The construction company had quoted Nu.8 million for two years.

A Thromde official, Tika Ram Kafley, said they have already started floating the tendered form for allotting new parking fees contract. He said they are going to open the tender on March 24.Gelegphu Thromde suspends parking fees system-

Parking fees collection, he said, will resume by March 1. “Our main objective is to avoid the congestion in town, make public be time conscious…” He said if they charge parking fees the vehicle owners will be conscious of time which would decongest the core town area.

Meanwhile, after the parking fees system was done away with, the allocated parking areas are filled these days. Gelegphu Thromde has drawn about 250 parking slots in and around Gelegphu town.
