Will ESP boost our Economy?

The National Assembly yesterday discussed the Economic Stimulus Plan (ESP). The Finance Minister, Namgay Dorji, while presenting the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill, said ESP will help boost the economy of the country. He said injecting money into the banks will pave way for financial access for the people.

Lyonpo Namgay Dorji said the fianancial institution will receive Nu. 2.1 billion. Revolving fund will be appropriated Nu. 1.9 billion. A revolving fund is a fund or account that remains available to finance an organisation’s continuing operations without any fiscal year limitation.

The special support scheme will be injected with Nu. 200 million. special support scheme has been divided into three catogories. Pre-employment support scheme will receive Nu. 110 million. Higher Education support Scheme will be allotted Nu. 30 million  and the senior citizens support scheme will receive Nu. 60 million.
