There were two separate fires earlier in the day in Thimphu. The first fire is believed to have been caused by sparks from a transmission line above the Semtokha substation. The fire was contained in an hour, but 10 decimals of forest were damaged.
The bigger fire which started at about noon destroyed at least 60 acres of forests above Olakha. The fire was brought under control at about 3.45 PM. It is not known how this fire started.
The fires were contained by teams of fire-fighters, RBA, RBG, forest personnel, and Desuups.
