Micro-Hydro-Powerhouse-in-ZhemgangBuilt in 1980s, the first ever micro hydro powerhouse at Dakphay Chu in Zhemgang is still benefiting the community there.

The small quaint house located just below Tingtibi-Dakphay highway in Zhemgang was built in late 1980s. It was the first power house built in Zhemgang, with support from the Japanese grant.

The powerhouse generates 200 KW of electricity. It is being combined to the parallel grid line today.

According to the officials from the power house, it will remain as a standby power provider for the nearby town and other offices, in case of prolonged power back-out, especially during the monsoon season.

The local residents said, they will forever remain grateful to the Japanese government for supporting the micro hydro powerhouse project, which is still benefiting the community.

In Zhemgang, there are two micro hydro power houses. While one is located at Dakphay Chu, the other one at Kiharchu.

Both the power houses were constructed by the Japanese grand in late 1980s. Currently, it is under the Bhutan power corporation.
