Chumigthang-Middle-Secondary-SchoolThe Pasakha Lower Secondary School, which was relocated at Ahalley village under Samphelling Gewog in Phuentshogling, was inaugurated yesterday. It has been now upgraded and known as Chumigthang Middle Secondary School.

The Education Secretary, Sangay Zam, graced the ceremony.Chumigthang-Middle-Secondary-School..

At the inaugural, the Education Secretary said, the new environment with better facilities will hopefully foster the students and the teachers’ zeal to work harder and achieve more.

“Facilities, while it will add to the learning culture, will alone be not able to achieve the purpose of providing quality education.” She said, at the end of the day, in order to infuse the vision and passion that guides a school’s development is the human spirit and the interaction that exists between students, teachers, parents and the community. “I think that is what will make the difference and ensure that the school supports the higher levels of learning.”

The school was relocated as the previous one was located within the industrial estate area. The new school is about eight kilometres away from the old school and provides more conducive environment for learning, say the school principal, Leki Wangdi. He said they had to face problems such as air pollution, traffic congestion and noise pollution, in the previous school. “After coming here we feel lucky because the air is clean and the classrooms are also spacious.”

Though the school was shifted in the beginning of this year, the formal inauguration was carried out yesterday as some structures of the school were not complete.

Chumigthang Middle Secondary School has 1,144 students and 41 teachers.
