A first of its kind Student Service Centre was inaugurated yesterday at the Sherubtse College. Known as Ngayabling, the Student Service Village will be a place where can students can relax, read books, and even meditate.
The Centre was opened by the Vice-Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan, Dasho Pema Thinley.
The Vice-Chancellor said that about fifty percent of education happens outside the classroom and that the Centre would, therefore, provide an informal learning environment for students.
The Centre was built at a cost of over Nu. 38 million.
