With just a few days left for the poll day, many residing in the capital have started moving to their respective constituencies. The entire buses have been reserved three weeks prior to the poll day.
Even the number of the private vehicles hired, has increased drastically this time, compared to the primary elections.
As of noon today, close to 80 vehicles were registered with the Road Safety and Transport Authority and majorities were hired by those travelling to the eastern part of the country. While in the primary, about 15 private vehicles had been registered with the RSTA.
Many voters went away from the Thimphu bus terminal dismayed with a thought that they may not be able to exercise their adult franchise and many of them were from the middle income group.
Similarly, voters from other parts of the country have started to pour in to cast their votes in Zhemgang. Major road blocks at various locations in Zhemgang hasn’t deterred people from going to their respective constituencies.
Today, about 30 vehicles made their way across Reotala block in Trongsa. Most of the people were from Thimphu and Wangdue Phodrang.
Department of Roads in Zhemgang said the road blocks have been cleared but continuous rain is still triggering fresh landslides.
