The continuous rainfall in Gelegphu for the last two days and nights has triggered a flood at the Gelegphu gate. At round 5 am today, the surface runoff also entered the nearby houses.
The rain has also blocked the roads on the Zhemgang-Gelegphu highway. The torrential downpour has also caused a major block at the at box cutting.
“It will be difficult to clear the road as soil erosion from the slope above the road keeps hampering the clearing process,” said the Base In-charge of Road Safety and Transport Authority.
Other blocks at Sethikhari causeway and before reaching the Chuburgang gate will be cleared soon for vehicle movement. The transport services for Zhemgang and Gomphu have been stopped since yesterday.
