18 years imprisonment for chorten vandalism

monggar-courtThe Monggar District Court sentenced a 24-year-old man from Drepoong to 18 years in prison for vandalising chortens in Bumthang and Monggar, and for smuggling leopard bones.

A 22-year-old man from Balam was sentenced to 15 years for involvement in the same chorten vandalism case as well. The two men had been vandalising chortens since 2007, but were arrested by the Gyalpoizhing Police only in May, this year.
