The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) has, through an official letter, urged journalists as well as Social Media users to, in their own words, “stop writing or posting unacceptable materials that undermine, defame and ridicule”.
The ECB says such activities “not only undermine the principles of a healthy and beneficial competition for a vibrant democracy, but also betrays the motives and morality of the authors and their platforms”.
