LilyWangchhukThe Druk Chirwang Tshogpa elected Lily Wangchhuk as its Party President at the party’s first General Assembly, today. Hundreds of DCT Supporters and members had gathered at the General Assembly.

DCT also elected their executive committee members and office-bearers at the convention. The Vice-President is Tshering Dorji.

DCT covers 12 broad areas under its manifesto to ensure holistic growth and inclusive development. The manifesto includes a self-reliant economy, rural prosperity, empowering women, a green vision, and investment in youth.

Of the total 41 confirmed candidates, young candidates form 50 percent of DCT- these are candidates in the age group between 25-30 years.

The President said the young candidates would reach out to the 60 percent Bhutanese youth population, and help address youth problems.

[pullquote]We must never forget that Bhutan has achieved remarkable progress under our visionary Kings who took over at a very young age. Therefore, I believe all our young dynamic candidates are people who have been nominated from their constituencies to come forward to respond to the call of the nation.”

– Lily Wangchhuk[/pullquote]

The general secretary, auditor and treasurer were also elected at the party convention.

The Druk Chirwang Tshogpa has revealed 33 candidates, so far.
