Damphu town in Tsirang is getting a major facelift, with internal road blacktopping works currently underway. The project is expected to improve traffic flow, strengthen urban infrastructure, and enhance the town’s overall appeal.

The town serves as a key gateway to the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

Despite having a bypass near the main town area, many commuters continue to pass through the main town often stopping for short breaks.

As a result, the demand for improved internal roads and related services in the town has become increasingly important.

Currently, the internal road blacktopping works are underway across the entire town area.

In the past, despite regular maintenance, some stretches of the internal road had developed potholes causing inconveniences to both commuters and the town residents.

The road improvement project is expected to benefit around 300 business owners, residents and visitors.

In addition to the road improvement works, the car parking area near the Sunday Vegetable Market has been expanded and blacktopped to address parking shortages.

The expansion is expected to ease congestion and provide adequate parking spaces particularly for vegetable vendors and customers visiting the weekly market.

According to officials from the Tsirang District Administration, additional infrastructure such as improved parking facilities, pedestrian crossings, and proper roundabouts will be developed once the blacktopping works are completed.

The district administration is spending over Nu 13 M for the project.
