Youth-Leadership-Training‘We have grown better than yesterday’. This was the message the youth participants shared as the first ever Youth Leadership Training ended at Kamji Middle Secondary School on Sunday.

The education minister, Thakur Singh Powdyel graced the closing ceremony.

Sangay Khandu, 17, a student of Lango Middle Secondary School, was tad timid when he first came for the training. But the three-week long camp changed him. He says he can now speak in public confidently.

Like Sangay, most participants are going home with changed personalities.

Somebody who cannot look after himself or herself, somebody who is not able to manage himself or herself will not be able to serve the country.”

During the training, the participants were taught the importance of developing self-esteem, patience and anger management.

Addressing the gathering, Lyonpo Thakur S. Powdyel reminded the participants to be constantly introspective and be in union with the goodness in oneself.

Apart from personal development of the participants, the young people also learned a bit on arts and crafts.

More than 50 students in between classes 7-10 from Chhukha, Thimphu, Paro and Sarpang dzongkhags took part in the training.
