45 International Colleges and Universities from Asia, North America, Australia and Europe took part in the 7th International Education Fair in Bhutan. It is organised annually with the approval of Bhutan Qualifications and Professional Certifications Authority.
Industry, Commerce and Employment Minister Namgyal Dorji opened the fair at Changlimithang on Saturday.
Representatives of international colleges and universities from Australia, Europe, Canada, India, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates took part in the two-day fair.
Attendees had the opportunity to interact with university representatives, gaining firsthand information about courses, admissions and future opportunities.
“The representatives of higher education institutions from India, Bangladesh and Canada explain the requirements for admission in detail. After having completed my 12th grade, I can now decide where to go for my higher studies through this opportunity,” said Kezang Jigme, a resident of Thimphu.
“The reason why I came to the fair is because I have yet to complete my 12th grade. So, before completing my 12th grade, I want to plan about my future carefully. Wondering what opportunities are there for my future, I came to get an idea,” said Pema Tshomo, a student.
The fair also serves as a platform for global educational institutions to interact with Bhutanese students and foster collaboration with Bhutanese education consultancies.
“I see this as an opportunity for students to come and study international courses in Australia, make their careers and get international exposure. It has been a very good platform for us to come and interact with the students,” said Saksham Onta, the Marketing Manager of the Crown Institute of Higher Education, Australia.
The event, organised by the Association of Bhutanese Education Consultancies, concluded yesterday.
