Coinciding with the Traditional Day of Offering, the Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body appointed the new kudrungs for Thimphu, Wangdue Phodrang and Paro. They were conferred dhar at the Punakha Dzong yesterday morning.
41-year-old Wangchuk Dorji from Bjena Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is the new Kudrung Shar. Prior to his present post, he was the mask dance teacher of the Central Monastic Body. He began his monkhood at the age of six. He received Rabjung Dompa from the 69th Je Khenpo and received teachings from the late Dralop Kinley Gyeltshen in Lekshey Jungney Shedra. He studied Garthik-Yangsum in Yarzhuk Lobdra and served in Zhung Budrel. He also received teachings from the present Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body.
39-year-old Kinga Tshering from Toebisa Gewog in Punakha has been appointed as the Kudrung Tshogchhen of Thimphu. He served as the Torma Lopen in the Central Monastic Body. He started his monastic education at the age of 12 in Punakha Dzong. After completing his studies, he received oral transmission and teachings from various spiritual masters including the 68th Je Khenpo and the current Je Khenpo and Dorji Lopen.
And the new kudrung of Paro is 38-year-old Phub Tshering from Paro Shaba. He served as the Lhung-Zinpa in Zhung Budrel section prior to his present post. He became a monk at the age of 11 and studied in the Central Monastic Body and the Lekshey Jungney Shedra. He also received teachings from former Je Khenpo, the present Dorji Lopen and Drupwang Karma Jurmi.
