His Majesty The King conferred Red Scarf, Bura Marp to three individuals during the National Day celebrations in the capital yesterday. His Majesty also conferred Kabney and Patang to two individuals in recognition of their service to the nation.
Arun Kapur, Director of the Druk Gyalpo’s Institute at Pangbisa in Paro and a recipient of the Order of Druk Thuksey during National Day in 2019, is one of the recipients of Red Scarf from His Majesty The King.
He is a distinguished educator with over four decades of experience in both public and private education sectors globally and has made remarkable contributions in the field of education. He is also the board director of the Gelephu Mindfulness City.
Arun Kapur said he is overwhelmed and blessed to be bestowed this incredible honour by His Majesty The King.
His Majesty The King also conferred Red Scarf to Zangla Namgyel, Secretary of the Dratshang Lhentshog for his dedicated service to the Dratshang Lhentshog and His Majesty The King. He served as Changarp to His Majesty The King before being appointed as the Secretary.
He has been in service for 52 years and served His Majesty The King for the last 20 years.
Gyalpoi Zimpon Ugyen K. Namgyel is also conferred Red Scarf for his exceptional service to His Majesty The King.
Former National Assembly Speaker, Wangchuk Namgyel, who is currently working at Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, received Kabney and Patang from His Majesty The King.
He said, “Though I feel I have not served the nation as well as I could, being conferred the Dhar by His Majesty The King has brought me immense joy. At the same time, I feel a deep sense of responsibility. Until now, I have served the nation with whatever little I knew, and from this moment forward, I will continue to serve with the same loyalty and unwavering commitment.”
Similarly, Tshewang Tandin, President of Royal Thimphu College, also received Kabney and Patang from His Majesty The King.
“I feel deeply fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve the nation. Being recognized by His Majesty is not just an honour, but also a profound responsibility. It inspires me to serve with even greater dedication and to educate young people to embrace their role in serving the nation to the best of their abilities,” said Tshewang Tandin.
The conferral of Kabney and Patang reflects the recipient’s responsibility, loyalty, and service to the nation.
