Dorji Lopen confers Dhar to new appointees of various religious centres

The Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body conferred Dhar to the newly appointed Lam Neten, Sungkhorp and Vice-Principal of various religious centres. They were conferred Dhar at the Punakha Dzong today.

46-year-old Lam Tshering Dorji from Nyisho Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is the new Lam Neten of Tashi Yangtse Rabdey. He was enrolled in monastic school at the age of twelve and graduated from the Tango University of Buddhist Studies.

Before his present post, he served as a Lam at Dongkola Lhakhang in Paro and as a deputy secretary of examination in the Zhung Dratshang. He underwent his three-year retreat at Pelgi ri Drupdey in Thimphu.

Tashi Wangchuk from Barp Gewog in Punakha is the new Sungkhorp of His Majesty the King at Kalimpong in India. The 44-year-old became a monk at the age of ten. He completed his six-year retreat.

Before his present post, he underwent a retreat at Hongtsho Goenpa in Thimphu. He also served as a teacher in Zhung Budrel and mask dance instructor.

And, Gyembo Dorji from Phangyuel Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is the new Sungkhorp of Royal Bhutan Army Wing IX in Gelephu. He was enrolled in a monastic school at the age of eight. He completed his studies at the Tango University of Buddhist Studies. He underwent his three-year retreat at the Tango Dzongkha.

Before his present post, the 36-year-old served as a teacher at the Tango Institute for Advanced Vajrayana Studies.

Similarly, Sonam Dorji from Nyisho Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is the new vice-principal of Gyelpozhing Kuenphen Yoesel Choling Monastic School in Monggar.

The 33-year-old became a monk at the age of fourteen. He graduated from Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University in Thimphu. He underwent his three-year retreat at Nalendra and Cheri Drupdey in Thimphu.
