The only way to enter Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag under Dagana Dzongkhag is through India at the moment. Come next year and people will have an option, when the Lhamoizingkha-Raidak Highway opens to traffic.

The 18 kilometre highway will connect Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag to Darla Gewog under Chhukha Dzongkhag.

Majority of the works have been completed. Along the highway two major bridges and ten small ones are being constructed.

With about seven months left, the contractors are optimistic that the highway will be completed on time.

The Site Supervisor said with the onset of winter, work will progress smoothly.

The Lhamoizingkha Gup, Sherab Gyeltshen said, the highway will benefit the villages a lot. He said it will bring about economic development in Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag.

Once the Lhamoizingkha-Raidak highway is completed, people will no longer have to travel through India. Travel distance will also be shortened.
