His Holiness appoints new Lam for Chimi Lhakhang

His Holiness the Je Khenpo appointed 34-year-old Samdrup Norbu as the Lam of Chimi Lhakhang today. Samdrup Norbu is from Punakha.

When he was eight years old Lam Samdrup Norbu joined Dechenphodrang monastic school and studied Buddhist Philosophy.

After that he went to Lek Jung Shedra in Punakha. After completing his Buddhist philosophy from Lekjung Shedra, he mediated for three years at Hontsho Trashigang.

Prior to this present appointment he served as a teacher at Chimi Lhakhang Lobdra.

Meanwhile, His Holiness the Je Khenpo also consecrated the new Choekhang in Wangduephodrang today. The Choekhang was constructed with funds from the government of India. It costs almost Nu. 8 million.

The Choten Tshogpa of Wangduephodrang and Punatshangchu Hydro Power Project Authority also contributed in cash and kind.

The dzongkhag administration will soon move to the newly built Choekhang.
