Following an outbreak of malaria in the neighbouring Indian state of Assam, officials from the vector borne disease control programme in Gelephu are sensitising the residents on the prevention measures.

Gelephu shares an open border with the Assam and the chances of contracting the disease is high.

People are to comply strictly with the guidelines issued by the office.

Gelephu has been seeing a steady decline in the number of malaria cases in recent years.
