A total of 27 individuals including two women tested positive for drugs during a checking conducted at the Olakha Workshop and Changzamtog Highway in Thimphu today. Seven individuals are from the workshop area, while the remaining individuals tested positive during the highway checking. They are aged between 18 to 37 years. Although seven of them were found carrying drugs, they were not arrested since the quantities did not exceed the permissible amount. According to the Thimphu Drug Division, they conducted the tests in workshops since substances are often sold in such places. Over 400 individuals were tested in the two areas today. All 27 individuals will be sent for counselling and treatment.
