There is a forecast of rainfall in the coming days. According to the National Centre for Hydrology and Meteorology, there is potential cyclonic circulation that could cause the rainfall. And with paddy harvest season approaching, farmers are being advised to keep track of the prevailing weather conditions to make informed decisions and safeguard their crops.

According to the NCHM, there is a forecast of rainfall from Monday to Friday this week.

“In the coming days because the monsoon is still active and also because there is a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, we predict cloudy with light to moderate rain over most parts of the country. With some possibilities of heavy rain over the southern, central and eastern parts. And the duration for this forecast is from 2nd to 6th October,” said Dechen Lhamo Gyeltshen, meteorology officer of the National Center for Hydrology and Meteorology.

With the forecast of untimely rainfall, the Department of Agriculture is advising farmers to plan their paddy harvest schedules accordingly. The department says farmers should make sure to keep themselves updated with the daily three-day weather forecast issued by the NCHM through the BBS.

“In order to have a fruitful harvest, we do our best to provide the accurate forecast and the channels we use are mainly BBS, because I think we all know that it has the greatest reach in the country. We also use other channels especially social media like Facebook, and WhatsApp which have a lot of advisory groups. We also have our website which is being regularly updated as well,” said Dechen Lhamo Gyeltshen, the meteorology officer.

The NCHM said that the monsoon is expected to withdraw during the next five to seven days.
