Over 2,000 graduates have made it through the Bhutan Civil Service Examination’s Preliminary Examination. The results were declared today. The qualified candidates will now compete for 1,125 positions in the civil service when they sit for the main examinations in October. Meanwhile, the pass percentage has dropped by over four per cent compared to last year.
Of over 4,000 graduates registered for the PE, only 3,370 graduates appeared for the exam earlier this month.
With the pass percentage set at 50 per cent, a total of 2,048 qualified to sit for the main examinations.
430 teaching positions are up for grabs for graduates with Bachelor of Education, while 340 will be absorbed in technical services.
245 graduates will go on to study Post Graduate Diploma in Education. The remaining 110 will go into administration, finance, and legal services after the main examinations.
According to the Royal Civil Service Commission, despite the cutoff percentage remaining the same, the pass percentage dropped by 4.11 per cent compared to last year.
However, the number of candidates making it through the PE is one of the highest in the past five years.
This year’s PE saw 503 graduates from outside the country appear the exam, but only 266 candidates qualified for the main exams.
Of the 169 in-service candidates, 109 qualified for the main exams.
The RCSC saw an increase of 991 graduates registering for the Preliminary Examination this year compared to 2022.
The increase is attributed to the removal of the quota system for civil service examinations.
The document verification for qualified candidates for the main exams will start on the 28th of August.
Candidates have to report in person with original documents for verification.
The main exams will be held from the 5th to 7th of October.
