Villagers of Devitar Chiwog under Lhamoizingkha Gewog in Dagana had been suffering from food crisis for almost three months. Heavy and continuous downpour had ruined this year’s harvest.

Much to their relief, the villagers received a truckload of basic necessities like rice, salt, dal, sugar, and oil from the Food Corporation of Bhutan on Saturday.

The Gup had approached the Managing Director of Food Corporation of Bhutan in Phuentsholing for rations on loan at subsidised rate. “The dzongkhag could not provide any support,” said the gup.

The supplies have now reached to all the people in the chiwog. Devitar Chiwog is about a day’s walk from the gewog centre.

There are 73 households with a population of about 600.
