The ruling party, Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT), is yet to decide who among their MPs will get the party ticket, even as the next parliamentary elections draw near.

The party’s secretary, Thinley Gyamtsho, said they will decide on their candidate’s political future once the current government dissolves.

Thinley Gyamtsho maintains that the party hasn’t discussed on changing and replacing candidates. “The party has neither approached anyone nor have we been approached by candidates expressing their interest to join our party,” he said.

He also said the party will form a committee to select the candidates representing DPT for 2013 elections.

“It is important for the interested people to come forward if they believe in our party ideology,” said Thinley Gyamtsho adding that the people are aware of the performances and achievements of their Member of Parliament.

When asked, if some of the old ministers will resign to give way to younger generation to lead the country, Thinley Gyamtsho said no. Instead, the party will be requesting them to contest till they reach their age limit.  “Our democracy is young and we need experienced and capable people to build a strong foundation.”

Thinley Gyamtsho also said the party is looking for more women candidates.
