Hundreds of people received Guru Tshegye blessings at the Tendrel Thang in Tashichhodzong today as the three day annual Thimphu Tshechu ended.

Dressed in their best ghos and kiras, especially bought for the festival, people from in and around Thimphu came out in droves to soak in the blessings and festivities of the final day of annual Thimphu Tshechu.

The Tendrel Thang at the Tashichhodzong was packed with hundreds of people of all age from all walks of life.

The final day of the festival is the Guru Tshegye Cham or the dance of the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpochhe.

Other highlights include the cham of the Ging and Tsholing and the Rigma Chudru cham or the dance of the sixteen fairies.

Apart from the regular Tshechu Mask dances, the spectators got to watch the dance of the heroes, performed for the first time at the Thimphu Tshechu.

The dance of heroes was first performed at the Druk Wangyel Festival in Dochula in December last year.

Thimphu Tshechu is one of the biggest festivals in the country.  The festival not only attracts Bhutanese but also tourists from across the globe.

Thimphu Tshechu was instituted by the fourth Desi Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye in 15th century to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava.
