His Holiness the Je Khenpo is presiding over the oral transmission of Kuenkhyen Kabum or the Kuenkhyen Kabum Jaklung at the Kuensel Phodrang in Thimphu. Kuenkhyen Kabum Jaklung refers to the teachings of the accomplished Drukpa Kagyu master, Kuenkhyn Pema Karpo. The month-long oral transmission began yesterday.
Nearly 30,000 devotees from across the country gathered at the Kuensel Phodrang early in the morning to attend the oral transmission of Kuenkhyen Kabum.
Monks from various monastic institutions from across the country including a few from neighbouring countries like India and Nepal are also attending a religious ceremony.
“The oral transmission is very inclusive and therefore would be very useful for the monks. Moreover, it is also very helpful and important to all the devotees,” said Laytshog Lopen, Sangay Dorji.
“I am from Haa. And today, I came here to attend the oral transmission. I am very happy as I could see and get blessings from His Holiness the Je Khenpo. I want to attend once a week if cannot attend every day as I am not very well,” said Wangchuk, a devotee from Haa.
“I was telling my nephew that so long as I get to be here the remaining days, I won’t mind even if I go hungry. I am really happy to be here. I want to see our Je Khenpo so I am waiting here,” said Dago, another devotee from Thimphu.
At the event, a book consisting of His Holiness the Je Khenpo’s writings were also launched. It contains religious poems composed by His Holiness.
The religious event is organised by the Zhung Dratshang.
