The Australian High Commission in New Delhi has been receiving an overwhelming number of international student VISA applications since Australia’s border reopening early this year. This has caused delays in processing VISA for international students in the South Asian region. However, the Australian Ambassador to Bhutan assures that measures are in place to avoid VISA delays. The Ambassador is here in the country to present his credentials to His Majesty The King.

“We have seen an incredible resurgence of these replications from Bhutan post-COVID. They are far higher, and that doesn’t come as a surprise. This is also true for some other countries in the region. So, we are suffering delays and we have employed almost 50 additional people to process visas in this region, which is a sign that we are trying to work on. But certainly, we are working hard to resume business as usual pre-COVID. It is just that we are doing it now at a greater demand,” said Barry O’ Farrell, the Australian Ambassador to Bhutan.
