The Honorary Consul General of Bhutan in Tokyo, Hitomi Tokuda, called on the Foreign Secretary, Yeshey Dorji, this morning to convey sympathy of the Japanese people for the loss of Wangduephodrang Dzong to the fire.

Hitomi Tokuda also handed over a list of names of people who have donated over US$ 134,000 for the reconstruction of the Dzong. The amount has been remitted to the Wangduephodrang Reconstruction Fund Account maintained by the Ministry of Finance.

The donations were made by some one thousand Japanese people from various ministries and offices in Japan including Sakuragaoka Elementary School which Their Majesties visited in November last year.
