The Police in Wangdue Phodrang arrested a 31-year-old man for attempting to rape a minor on Monday. According to the police, the suspect had taken the 17-year-old girl on a drive along the Nahi GC Road on Monday. They had met on social media.

After reaching a landfill area, the suspect took the girl to a forest to collect mushrooms. But on reaching a secluded area, the suspect allegedly attempted to rape her.

However, the girl resisted and ran towards the road point and informed the people playing archery above the road point. Accordingly, one of the archers informed the police.

The suspect is detained for further interrogation.
