The Office of the His Majesty’s Kidu Support Centre in Bumthang handed over a newly built two roomed house to 85-year-old woman in Bumthang yesterday.

The beneficiary of the house Angay, Chimi Lhamo, has been receiving monthly kidu money since 2010 but she did not have a house to live in. The house was built by the office of the His Majesty’s Kidu Office in Bumthang. The business community of Chamkhar and Jakar Higher Secondary School also rendered their support in building the house.

“I do not have to wander around asking for shelter,” says Chimi Lhamo. Chimi Lhamo is originally from Bumthang. She says she does not remember any of her family members. “I remember staying in Lamai Goenpa under the Khentshey Rinpochoe of Dawathang.” She said after the Rinpochoe passed away she had nowhere to go.

Chimi Lhamo says she is thankful to His Majesty for granting her kidu and the house.

A ritual for her new house was also conducted by the Lam Neten. The house has two rooms and a toilet. The house is located in Zangtherpo village near Choekhor Gewog office.
