To curb the emerging human-wildlife conflict and enhance food security, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests will distribute chain-link fencing to the farmers. Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering shared about the new initiative during his recent visit to Lhuentse.

The Prime Minister said that discussions are ongoing to provide financial support to construct the chain-link fencing. The farmers are expected to contribute labour. The government has already allocated Nu 500 M for the project.

In the first phase, the government is going to provide chain-link fencing to districts that engage in large-scale farming. For that, the Dzongkhag Tshogdu must identify a gewog which engages in large-scale farming to get financial support.

Sonam Tshering, Lhuentse
