Eight women’s football teams are competing in the ongoing Thimphu Women’s Open Football Championship 2022. As the fourth match ended yesterday, all teams have at least played a match each so far in the competition.

The Championship is aimed at enhancing women’s football development, and encouraging middle-aged women to take part in football for a healthy lifestyle.

Panchali Women’s FC, Desuung Women’s FC, and Green Taras Women’s FC have all won their first game and are leading the point table.

Meanwhile, it was a tough game for Druk Girls and United Ladies who settled for a two-draw earning a point each yesterday.

And on Tuesday, it rained goals at the Changlimithang stadium with Green Taras Women’s FC scoring 14 goals against North City Ladies.

Friends United FC and BNB Ladies are also among the teams taking part in the Championship. The finals are set to take place on 26 of this month.
