HH Je Khenpo appoints Kilkhor Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang

His Holiness the Je Khenpo conferred Tashi Lekdhar to appoint Kilkhor Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang at the Tashichhodzong today. Lopen Dorji Wangdi from Rukubji in Wangdue Phodrang is the new Kilkhor Lopen.

His responsibilities mainly include drawing mandalas and weaving ritual thread-crosses during Kurims among others.

Prior to the current appointment, he served as an assistant to the former Kilkhor Lopen. He was ordained as a monk at the age of 11 at Pung-thim Dratsang. He also completed a retreat from Chizhi Goenpa in Thimphu.
