Approach road comes as a relief for Tareythang residents

With the onset of monsoon season, the people of Tareythang will no more have to worry about being cut off from the rest of the places. This is because a new approach road from Dangling village under Umling Gewog to Tareythang Gewog in Sarpang was completed in November last year.

People in Tareythang Gewog remain cut off from the rest of the places because of the swollen Langa River during the monsoon. But the nearly seven-kilometre Gyalsung Project’s approach road has come as a relief.

“In the past, there was no road from here. We travelled from another route. It used to be difficult for the students studying in Taraythang to cross the swollen river during summer. But it has now become convenient with the construction of a new road by Gyalsung,” said Dhanman Gurung, a resident of Tareythang.

“In the past, travelling via the rough road used to be inconvenient. The bad road condition often damaged our vehicles. But with the new road, small vehicles can ply through the road without any inconveniences. We are thankful,” said Sukraj Rai, another resident.

“With the Gyalsung Project in the district, the new approach road has been a blessing for us. We do not have to cross the Langer River risking our lives,” said Tenzin Namgay.

“We had to cross Langar River in absence of a bridge. Now we don’t have to worry about the bridge or crossing Langar River in access to this road,” said Prakash Tirwa.

The Gyalsung approach road was constructed at a cost of Nu 61 M.
