The Thimphu Thromde today demolished eight illegal structures at the Olakha Workshop area built on the government land. The Thromde said encroachment on state land has become a rising issue in Thimphu and that they would be carrying out such demolitions in other parts of the city.

“These are encroaching into the state land and as per the land act 2007, these are not allowed. It is illegal. We got a complaint from the workshop association saying that it has become so congested because of the so many small structures attached to the main building that also include car washing dugs,” said Thinley Norbu, Chief urban Planner of Thimphu Thromde.
