The long wait for a hospital at Autsho in Lhuentse will soon come to an end. Today, people get medical services from a Primary Health Centre. But the need to upgrade the Health Centre to a hospital was also discussed during the last Dzongkhag Tshogdu. The District Health Sector expects the hospital to be completed by June this year.

The construction of the hospital with ten beds began in 2020. Only about 73 per cent of the work is complete. According to the district health officials, the work was supposed to be completed by the end of this month, but the pandemic delayed the progress.

Residents of Autsho and the surrounding gewogs, however, are eagerly waiting for the completion.

“It will greatly benefit not just the people here but from those in Namdroling Goenpa,” said Tsheringla.

“It will benefit people from almost four gewogs,” said Cheki Dorji.

Once complete, the hospital will have a doctor, unlike today. The health centre opened in 2000 currently has only four health officials.

But soon people will be able to avail themselves of ultrasound, X-ray, eye and dental services from the new Nu 40 M hospital.
