There is a rumour making the rounds that Thimphu Thromde will go into immediate lockdown. And due to this, people were seen rushing and overcrowding the shops in the capital. The rumour is further fueled by the notification from the Prime Minister’s Office urging everyone ‘to remain vigilant as lockdowns could come any time,’. The notification also asks ‘people to maintain adequate stock of essentials and be mindful of the threat that looms amid the pandemic.’

However, the Health Ministry through its official Facebook page clarified that the rumour is not true. The ministry urges the general public to refrain from sharing such rumours as it causes unnecessary panic among the people.
