The Thimphu police have forwarded the two alleged sexual harassment cases of the Royal Tutorial Project and Bhutan Power Corporation to the District Court. The cases were forwarded on Friday, last week. Both the incidents allegedly took place in September.

The preliminary hearing for the Royal Tutorial Project is tentatively scheduled to take place on Monday next week. The preliminary hearing for the Bhutan Power Corporation will be held the next day on Tuesday.

On September 7, a 22-year-old woman working at the Royal Tutorial Project was allegedly harassed sexually by her immediate supervisor. She said the suspect had been molesting her regularly since she joined office on contract last year.

Similarly, a female staff of the Bhutan Power Corporation also reported of alleged sexual harassment while at office by her boss. She alleged that one of the directors had sexually harassed her during the early morning hours of September 15 while she was on a night shift.

The police took more than two months to investigate the two cases since they were registered.

If found guilty, the two men will be charged for petty misdemeanour which has a sentencing of a month to less than a year.
