Karma, 36, has been elected as the Gup of Ramjar Gewog under Trashiyangtse. The by-election which decided the result saw Karma as the lone contender for the post yesterday. The post became empty after the former gup of Ramjar passed away in a vehicle accident last month.
As per the Election Act of Kingdom of Bhutan, the by-election for the post of vacant post under the local government has to be held within 30 days from the date of the post becomes vacant.
