The Dhamdum Industrial Park in Samtse is expected to be ready by next year. More than 80 percent of the works are complete as of today.

Having remained idle for some years, the development of the Industrial Park located at Dhamdum in Samtse is gradually taking shape today. The department of industry under the economic affairs ministry that looks after the project is hopeful of completing the overall works by next year.

According to the Project Engineer, Kushyog Subba, they are targeting to complete the works by December next year. “If we fail to complete the project by that time, it will get extended to 2023.”

The project is being carried out in three phases. According to the Project Engineer, two phases have been completed, and they have now switched to the final phase.

“It is all about connecting the park with all the basic facilities. In the third phase, we are constructing roads, installing street lights, constructing drains, and also working on water supply distribution works” said the Project Engineer.

Four manufacturing industries have been operating at the park for a few years now.

Kushyog Subba said “As of today, furniture, textile, fruit and agro-based industry, and a disinfectant industry have started their works at the area. Of them, two have also been able to complete the factory construction works and waiting to begin their production.” He added that a few service industries like mechanical workshops, car washing service providers, and fabrication shops have also started works recently. The Dhamdum Industrial Park can be expected to be fully operational by next year.

Works to construct the 349-acre park began in 2016. The government of India is funding the project worth Nu 300 M.
